In Memoriam: Cosplays Of David Bowie’s ‘Jareth’

In case you have not heard the sad news, legend and genius David Bowie died yesterday at 69, after a secret 18 month long fight with cancer.

It is tough to say what anyone in the nerd community knows David Bowie best for — his science fiction songs like ‘Space Oddity’, ‘Ziggy Stardust’ and ‘Diamond Dogs’ or his science fiction or fantasy movie roles like The Man Who Fell to Earth or Nikola Tesla in The Prestige. But there is one truly consistent thing — people love to cosplay Bowie’s role of Jareth, the Goblin King from Labyrinth.

To mark his passing, below is a small gallery of some of the many Jareth cosplayers I have shot over the years. I am sure the list isn’t remotely complete, and if I have taken a photo of you cosplaying as Jareth and it isn’t in here, please let me know when and where and I will add it. Among the cosplayers in this set is Khepera Cosplay, in the first cosplay I saw the now multi award winning cosplayer wearing.
