The first time i ever heard of Planetoid, i was working at ConnetiCon for Nerd Caliber, and Producer J came up to me and asked me to get some Photos of the band on the main stage while they were rocking out. I had no idea what i was in for when i walked through those doors…
This band is as face melting as they come; comprised of Admiral Time, a Cybernetic life form with the power to control even time itself and the ability to rock the drums till your blood vessels explode, Ovatus, a plant based life form responsible for the obliteration of hundreds of species across the universes and the ability to melt your brain using only a human guitar, and Locrius the dreaded Goblin assassin and preacher of the church of Overdrive. Together they form the intergalactic masters of the universe known as PLANETOID!!!!!
This album is phase one of a multiple phase release that is meant to enslave the human race so that Planetoid can become our rightful lords and masters, thus fulfilling the proper order of things on this pitiful rock known as earth.
Planetoid certainly has their own style, and it WORKS! If i had to pick a genre for them, i would have to say classic rock meets Space rock. HELLO INTERGALACTIC SPACE ROCK!!!!! Both on and off stage these guys remind me of the 1970’s.
The album itself is only four tracks long, but don’t let that fool you; those four tracks are enough to not only melt your brain but also melt the brains of anyone within a 500 mile radius. The whole album can be listened to in less time than it takes for Godzilla to destroy Japan (Approx. 23 min). That is to say that the album has a run time of only 18 minutes and 50 seconds, which definitely leaves you wanting more. That being said, even if the album had a run time of 20 YEARS you would still want more…they are just that good.
My personal congratulations to the lords and masters on this their first phase released into the general population for consumption and ultimately the destruction of the human race YEAH!!!!
