Make It So: A Food Site For Us

As you know by now I love cooking.  I posted a book review on “Cooking for geeks”.  I suggested caffeinated ramen.  I consider cooking to be an honorable and appropriate pursuit for we geeks, nerds, otakus, and all our people.

So of course, are you surprised I’ve got another “Make It So” related to food?  No, probably not.

See, I’ve been thinking that food is indeed part of our culture, from food geeks to playing Pathfinder blitz out of our minds on caffeine, from eating ramen at anime cons to pizza . . . any time.  Food really is part of who we are.  It’s just there’s so much of it . . .

We need a website that focuses on foods for nerds, geeks, and the rest of us.  It’s history, new stuff, old stuff, and generally stuff that appeals, to, well, us.

I want a section on odd nerd-foodables, like those tacky mana energy drinks or the Bertie Botts Jelly Bellies.  Think of what you can cover alone on inadvisable food tie-ins like, and I’m serious, Snowballimus Prime .

I want a section entirely devoted to the variants and weirdness of pizza, from hot dog crusts to absolutely terrible meals people had at weird pizza joints.  I mean seriously, you know you’d probably try natto pizza.

I want a section on classic geek foods that aren’t pizza, like ramen.

I want a section on foods from nerd shows, like fish sticks and custard.

There would be a section on energy drinks of course.  I mean . . . yeah, that’s unavoidable.

Why have it?  Because food is part of geek culture, from pizza to energy drinks to oddities and variances and strange little promotionals.  So let’s catalog it, write about it, promote it, and explore it.

Let me know.  I might have a few observations to add . . .
