Tokusatsu: Japanese Science-Fiction Art Exhibition
Tokusatsu (特撮) is a Japanese term that applies to any live-action film or television drama that usually features superheroes and/or monsters and makes considerable use of special effects (tokusatsu literally translates as “special filming” in Japanese). These include some of the most popular “Kaiju” characters like Godzilla and Gamera…as well as popular hero characters like Ultraman and Spectreman…or Giant Robo ( Johnny Soko & his flying Robot).
Located in the historic Little Tokyo area of downtown Los Angeles, Q Pop provides a one-stop destination for beautiful artwork, artist prints, unique hand-made goods, vinyl toys, and Japanese funky street fashion.
An opening reception will take place on Saturday, September 15, from 7:00 – 10:00 PM, and feature a live DJ, Kaiju costume contest, photo booth, food trucks, and projected Tokusatsu shows.
