Lara Croft Retrospective Cosplay Gallery
The next big screen appearance of Lara Croft has found its director in Misha Green, the showrunner for and an executive producer on the HBO series Lovecraft Country. Currently titled Tomb Raider and again starring Alicia Vikander as a still-learning Lara Croft, the name suggests that she is maturing into the character we see at the beginning of the first game in the franchise.
That first game came out in 1996, a full 12 years before I even started taking photos of cosplayers at conventions. I have been taking pics of Lara Croft cosplayers at nearly every convention I’ve been to since 2008. So I have to admit that I am a bit surprised that there are only 70+ images in this gallery. I would have guessed it was a much large number. Particularly because of the great variety of different costumes Lara has worn in the various games and movies. The classic tight blue tank top and even tighter cargo shorts are on display here, but so is the black and brown look, the winter coat look, the newer reboot look with the ice hammer and even the scuba suit.
