Batgirl Cosplay Retrospective Gallery

Last week deadline reported that the Batgirl movie, long on hold after Joss Whedon left (maybe was booted from) the project, was back on with not one but two new directors —  Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. The team is best known here in the U.S. for directing Bad Boys for Life, but in their native Belgium they made a handful of serious movies exploring aspects of the criminal world in that country and how it affects individuals.

In addition to the new directing team, the article notes that the script was written by Christina Hodson, who wrote Bumblebee, Birds of Prey, and the currently in production Ezra Miller movie The Flash, among others. The Batgirl movie is scheduled for release on HBO Max, the article notes. Of the various people that have used the Batgirl mantle in the comics, the best known is Barbara Gordon, daughter of Commissioner James Gordon, and that is the Batgirl for the upcoming movie. The article doesn’t say how close to the comic book story — or which one of the many versions of Barbara’s story — the script will hew to, but either her traditional story or the Batgirl of Burnside are the two best bets.
