In its first year back since the pandemic, Another Anime Convention moved from Chelmsford, Mass., to the Westford Regency Inn and Conference Center in Westford, Mass. — just a few miles or so miles down the state highway Rte. 495. While the Radisson Hotel & Suites in Chelmsford was a good venue with some lovely photography locations, the Westford Regency is more of a conference center, with more meeting spaces than a convention the size of AAC probably needed. That said, the con still set up a massive event tent in one of the parking lots for the biggest events.

From the standpoint of attendees, another big plus for the new location is the plethora of food choices. Sure, the hotel has a couple of dining options on site, but that area where Rte. 110 meets Boston Road is loaded with restaurants of every type and price range. There is Bamboo, an excellent pan-Asian place with a great sushi bar about 200 yards South of the hotel and a Five Guys about 100 yards North, and a few dozen other options within less than a half a mile. This bounty of choices is likely due to the concentration of sizable tech company offices in the area — Netscout and Red Hat to the South and Akamai and Nvidia to the North, just to name a few among dozens.

AAC was the third convention I attended since Labor Day Weekend, and if you read my articles about Fan Expo Boston or Granite State Comicon you will remember I remarked on how much larger a percentage of anime cosplayers were at those traditionally comic book-based conventions. Well, AAC is definitely an anime convention — it’s right in the name after all. So the vast majority of the photos I took once I found my spot in the hotel lobby are of anime cosplays.

The cosplayers in this first of two galleries from AAC 2021 include busyasabeecosplay, Just In Cosplay, Petry Cosplays, twofckoskxssin, salty.art.cos0, Metallic Moon Cosplay, amcitecos, saph_cos, chonya.cos, pastas3xual, flutterless.cos, panda.pi3, kaycifoxx, key_likeacarkey, rizcosplays, fae_yuni, aceofsnakes, icookdonutz, _alyssaferreira, itsstephanie.oooo, toumeinasekkai, and many more.

We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
