PAX East 2022 Gallery By FirstPerson Shooter Th-Fri Part 1
The reason that photos from Thursday are included in this first gallery from Friday is that, despite how relatively successful the other days at PAX East 2022 were, Thursday was emptier than I have ever seen the convention since it first came to Boston in 2010. I only took 18 photos from 9:30 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon.
PAX East 2022 should really have gone back to being a three-day convention for its first year back since March of 2020. That said, the other three days were similar to what I’ve experienced since conventions have started returning to in-person events — about 75 percent of the usual crowd sizes per day, based on the number of cosplay photos I took.
Friday, despite starting out with some annoying parking confusion, was a much busier day right out of the gate. I had already taken more photos than on Thursday within the first 90 minutes of getting my gear set up.
The show floor itself was significantly less packed with exhibitors and vendors than it was in 2020. This resulted in both an easier time negotiating the crowds on the show floor as they had much more room in the walkways, and more opportunities for attendees to cycle from show floor to panel rooms to the lobby where I was seated. So not only did I get multiple photos of the same cosplayer, either in a different cosplay or with added friends cosplaying from the same IP, but I had more chances to catch up with the many friends I hadn’t seen in two years.
Cosplayers in this first of two galleries from Friday (with Thursday thrown in at the beginning) include Mink the Satyr Cosplay, maplesaurcosplay, mangoloo.cos, sisucosplayandcraft, Steel Shield Cosplay, queenofcoatscosplay, philanthrobotic, floris_lilium, Bulletdancer Cosplay, chrisriseordie, neocoolstar, ashleydarkphoenix, jammthejedi, leftymakes, jason.kuehl, lytecos, Samantha Winslow Cosplay, Vee Cosplay, theizzeb, and many more.
We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
