Emerald City Comic Con 2022 Saturday Gallery Part 1 By Daveatthecon

Even more so than on Friday, Saturday at Emerald City Comic Con saw a hazy sun-filled day, so Dave of daveatthecon on Instagram spent all day outdoors taking cosplay photos against the massive amount of greenery on site. Some of the shrubbery I can’t identify, some are clearly rhododendrons, and it took a Google search to confirm that hydrangea plants can grow as large as can be seen in a number of the images in the gallery linked below.

I wish more convention facilities had the kind of beautiful outdoor environments that the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle does. The convention center’s plaza is about in the middle of an urban greenspace called Freeway Park, so photographers have no problem finding a place to take pictures with nice backgrounds. In Boston, the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center has the Lawn on D right next to it on D Street, and while that provides some interesting shooting locations it is not nearly as lush and green as what Seattle offers.
