Anime Boston 2023 Friday Cosplay Gallery By Samie Wong

Like last year, this year at Anime Boston I was on staff of the Photography Dept., this year as Asst. Photo Dept. Manager as my assistant from last year stepped up to the role she was made for, Photo Dept. Manager. Since there was no Cosplay Photo Suite this year, I hardly ever got out of the closed-off Photo HQ to take pictures. Luckily, Samie of samiewongphotos was there wandering the halls and getting awesome photos of the excellent cosplays.

We were lucky to have Samie doing hall cosplay photos, because scheduling conflicts made it impossible for me to find anyone to man the Community Row table and take the kinds of photos I was taking from 2015 to 2019. Without her efforts we would have not had any content from Anime Boston this year.

Because of my status as staff, I’ve got no real reflections on AB 2023. My time was mostly spent in what would otherwise be a small panel room, setting up gear then solving technical and logistical issues and eventually some photo editing. I can say that, when I did get outside the Photo HQ, it seemed like Friday was slightly less crowded than in previous years. That might be just a mistaken impression but hold on to that thought for when I get to the Saturday galleries.
