Make It So: Keep Making It So!
Remember awhile ago in Make It So when I said someone should do a living Pokedex of Pokemon, since so many people did humanized Pokemon anyway. I figured, maybe, somehow, someone would take me up on it. Eventually.
How does 2014 sound?
Meet The People of The Ultimate Pokedex.
Yes, it’s real. A group of very, very ambitious people are making this happen for ACEN. I lack the words to describe how awesome this is.
Oh, and they’re not just doing Pokemon. No that would be limiting themselves. They also want to do the various humans in the stories. We’re talking somewhere around 700 people gathering at one convention, in costume, one theme, photo shoot and all.
These people are not messing around.
Which brings me around to something I want to encourage you to do, my fellow geeks, nerds, fans, and otaku. Share your ideas.
There’s a reason I do “Make It So” here. Sure, I didn’t get caffeinated ramen or my book on fictional finances – Yet. But if one wild idea of mine can become this insanely wonderful megacosplay, then it shows that someday I may be reading about fantasy monetary systems while jacked up on noodles*.
Which is why you have to get out there and share your crazy ideas.
Look, we can’t do all our crazy ideas, our great dreams, our wild inspirations. But someone may. Don’t leave them all bottled up in your heads. Let them out – in a blog, at a convention brainstorming meeting, something. Keep a book of them and use them. Tithe ideas and post x-percent of them somewhere. Something.
You never know what it’s going to lead to. It’s easy to think “no one will do this” or “no one will care” or “this is stupid.” But you don’t know until you let it out.
You might end up being responsible for 700 people going to ACEN to try the seemingly impossible in costume. Trust me, it feels pretty awesome.
You got blogs, tumblr, journals, and everything else. Go for it. In fact, there could be a website for wild geek/fandom ideas to be posted. Hmmm, there’s something else to make it so . . .
Give it a shot!
Oh and you may wonder, will I be at Ultimate Pokedex at ACEN? Of course. I managed to cause this, so I should show up. Yes, I’ll even be in costume.
I’ll be Professor Oak.
It seemed appropriate.
* “Jacked Up On Noodles” would be a good band name.
