REVIEW: Injustice: Gods Among Us
Injustice: Gods Among Us, known as Injustice: The Mighty Among Us in Middle Eastern regions, is a 2D Fighting Game based upon the fictional universe of DC Comics. The game was developed by NetherRealm Studios for the PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360, and released in April 2013 in North America, Europe, and Australia. It will be released in June 2013 in Japan. An iOS variation of the game was released on April 3, 2013. I will start this off by saying this is an incredible game. I really enjoyed Injustice. I’ll start of with the story, which is very well made, and I didn’t expect anything less.
The story itself can be made into a movie in my opinion. The story, without giving too much spoilers crosses to different realities, one reality that is called One Earth, in which Superman becomes supreme leader of the World, killing all those who appose them. Desperate for help One Earth Batman brings over Heroes from the regular DC universe reality to fight against Superman and his Regime. Also traditional Arcade Mode is available giving different stories for each character, along with additional modes to change the arcade mode play style. Due to the style of fighting in this game, I highly recommend training mode, and doing tutorials for this game. It has a learning curve, and definitely isn’t a pick up and play game.
Another great addition to this game is the STAR LAB missions. These are events and games that a special to each character. This helps you improve your game and learn characters. The roster of this game is evenly balanced between heroes and villains. Each character has their own unique gameplay and fight style. Also traits which are unique to each character adds in more gameplay variety so each match and game feels different as you take on different characters. I appreciate NetherRealm’s attention to this game. They fix bugs instantly, and add balance updates periodically, which is uncommon in other fighting games.
The online mode for this game works very well. Personally, I haven’t ran into any lag issues, or frame-rate troubles. However, there are certain things that kinda irk me. I noticed that when playing a game, if your opponent leaves mid match, which is called rage-quitting both players get a loss, and button configuration is pretty annoying too, since it resets both players configurations. Lobby Making, Ranked, and Player Matches are available, however there are also other game types such as Survivor, and King Of The Hill. Spectator mode is a great addition where players can watch matches instead of being left out in the dark. And with a constant update of DLC characters and skins, Injustice keeps it’s community happy.
Overall, Injustice is a very well made fighting game made by NetherRealm Studios and it’s uniqueness makes it a great game. I give Injustice: Gods Among Us a 4 out of 5. Now hopefully one day we can get a Marvel VS DC Comics fighting game. Let’s hope!
