NYCC Enlists Cosplayers to Close the Stock Exchange

Normally we wouldn’t just repost a press release, but this one from New York Comic Con is full of win. Folks from NYCC and New York Super Week rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange at the end of the trading day today — a treat usually reserved for companies that actually trade on one of the exchanges and quite often a startup.

While we can’t identify all of the cosplayers, for sure among the group was Luna x Mars in her Ghostbuster getup, and Gina B. Cosplay as Velma from Scooby Doo. And that is definitely Ruby Rinekso of Planet Ruby as the classic 1966 Batman. If you know any of the others, please let us know too.

There is a little confusion, as the press release is dated last Friday, Oct. 2, but Ruby says on Planet Ruby that he was at the NYSE today for the closing bell. Whenever it happened, it is cool. Below is the photo caption for the release, including the photographer credit:

Representatives of New York Comic Con, a New York Super Week event, ring the Closing Bell to celebrate the launch of New York Comic Con 2015, opening in New York City on October 8th. To mark the occasion, Michael Kisken, Vice President, ReedPOP, rings the Closing Bell, joined by a cast of popular costumed characters from DC Comics (NYSE: TWX) and Marvel (NYSE: DIS), including Wonder Woman, Daredevil, Black Widow, Velma (Scooby Doo), and Rocket Raccoon.

(Update: According to the PR firm, this was today, not Friday. Also, the Rocket Raccoon is Team Vermin Cosplay.)
