Halloween Costume Fun at Double Midnight Comics
Over the course of the past few years, Halloween has become a sort of second Free Comic Book Day at many comic book stores, with publishers putting out special Halloween-branded titles (OK, some were recovered versions of the same titles available at this year’s FCBD).
Even before this trend started to take hold, Double Midnight Comics in Manchester, NH, had been holding a costume contest all day on Halloween. Starting four years ago, store team member Pat Covey, the man who runs many of the cosplay contests and con after parties throughout New England, asked me to come take photos, and cap the day off with a group photo shoot at a nearby cemetery.
Below is a gallery from the 2015 costume contest, of the daytime photos. The cemetery shots will posted tomorrow. Among the cosplayers in this gallery are Khepera Cosplay as Billy the Puppet from Saw, BelleChere as Tina Belcher, LuckyGrim Cosplay as Louise Belcher, Cassadilla Cosplay as Gene Belcher, MicroKitty Cosplay as Carrie Kelly, Hybrid Spyder as dead Jason Todd, Zombie Leader as Heisenberg, Gallant-Z Cosplay as a version of Goku and Covey himself as Starlord with an amazing Groot (in the first costume he ever made, almost entirely out of cardboard!).
