‘Street Fighter V’ DLC System Is A Good Strategy
Capcom is doing some very new things with Street Fighter V, from its character redesigns, new V-Trigger system, and even its DLC.
Announced back in December, we were shown silhouettes of six more characters that will be added into the game further down the line. And we also got the identities of these characters. We have Street Fighter 3 poster boy Alex, the original army soldier with the weirdest hair Guile, the boxer of Shadloo Balrog, the ninja girl Ibuki, the violent Tae Kwon Do fighter Juri, and the white-haired powerhouse from SF3 Urien.
DLC in a Capcom fighting game? NO WAY! But honestly I’d prefer it this way instead of 4 more versions of the game being made, as happened with Street Fighter IV. Capcom has stated they do not want this to be the case for Street Fighter V. To be honest I think this is the best way to do fighting game DLC, for characters at least. This kind of reminds me of what Killer Instinct has done its DLC for both Season 1 and 2.
A season pass was announced for the game. It gives you all six characters, with premium costumes for each, as well as an exclusive PS4 theme, and will run about $30. However these characters can be purchased with Zenny, Street Fighter V’s currency system. Zenny is in-game money that can be bought with real world money… Xzibit would be proud. Each character will cost about 600 Zenny while costumes will be around 400 Zenny a piece.
I like this system. It will reward players for playing for long periods of time. I know I will. You could simply use real world money to buy Zenny for your DLC purchases or you can just “git guud” as most gamers would say, and play long enough to earn them. I am excited for these characters to get the Street Fighter V treatment to see what Capcom has in store for them, as well as the details of future DLC for this game. The fight is on and it’s almost time to rise up, on February 16.
