AAC 2018 Cosplay Gallery by FirstPerson Shooter, Saturday Part 1

Another Anime Convention got hit hard by circumstance this year, but still managed to pull off three days of fun, albeit of a reduced size. Those circumstances started with the hotel that had been the location of AAC for years, the Radisson in Manchester, NH, being sold to Hilton and turned into a DoubleTree hotel. The work to renovate the hotel was scheduled for the Fall of this year, and the two conventions in that time moved. Granite State Comic Con moved to an earlier date and AAC moved to a later date and a different hotel, the DoubleTree in Nashua, NH.

Because of the smaller amount of meeting space at the Nashua site, AAC capped attendance at 1,000 this year. Some traditional events had to be canceled and many regular attendees were put off that ticket prices didn’t go down. The second unfortunate circumstance was the early snow in New England. The vendors were set up in a heated tent in the parking lot, and if there had been no snow, that would have been fine. As it was, the snow was melting due to the tent heaters and the pavement inside the tent was always wet.

The management and staff of AAC did the best they could under the circumstances, and while attendees seemed often confused about where to find various con functions, most people I talked to enjoyed themselves. One common complaint was a lack of space to sit and relax. and if AAC returns to the Nashua DoubleTree, that should be addressed.
