Action Abounds in First ‘Civil War’ Trailer

On your left MCU fans. Last night during the show Jimmy Kimmel Live we finally, FINALLY got to see a trailer for Captain America: Civil War. And the trailer did not disappoint.

Honestly when they announced Civil War as a movie I was a little scared. Civil War is one of Marvel’s best storylines in my opinion and a favorite of mine. As someone who read the comics and even the side stories I knew this was going to be much different. First off this movie will have no Fantastic 4, no X-Men, Thunderbolts, New Warriors, and no Atlantis. So most of the heroes on each side and characters will be missing, meaning this will be a Civil War based on what the Marvel Cinematic Universe has already established.

As seen in the end credits of Winter Soldier, Bucky remembers everything — now at the beginning of the trailer it picks up from the end credits scene of Ant-Man, as troops are coming for a trapped Bucky, leaving Cap and Falcon to let him escape as they hold off the troops. Then we see a returning face, General Thunderbolt Ross. He is there one supposes due to the events of Age of Ultron, and the U.S government wants to prevent the Avengers from causing another instance like Sokovia. He informs the Avengers of the Hero Registry.

In the comics this puts Captain America in a tight spot, as he felt it was wrong to arrest heroes who haven’t registered. However the movie seems to lean on him wanting to protect Bucky as the government is going after him. Which leads Iron Man to come after his friend and fellow Avenger, all of which will lead to a fight between Team Captain America and Team Iron Man. Sure it’ll dive deeper, obviously, but from the trailer that is my guess.

The trailer is really well done, showing off several amazing action scenes, my favorite being Bucky and Cap beating down Iron Man. Also seeing Falcon’s new suit in action has me excited, as does a scene in which Tony holds a beaten War Machine, and of course seeing Black Panther in action. Honestly, that was my favorite part of the whole trailer since Black Panther is my favorite Marvel character next to Dr. Doom. So I am very excited for this movie needless to say. There is a lot to discuss about the movie as well as the comic which I’ll get to another time. So stay tuned, it will be time to pick a side May 6, 2016.
