Arisia 2019 Gallery by FirstPerson Shooter, Saturday Part 1

Saturday at Arisia 2019 was when things really got rolling, despite the warnings of bad weather. On Friday evening, from roughly 5 p.m. until I left at 7:45 p.m., the line for registration ran completely around the atrium on the mezzanine level of the Park Plaza in Boston. The wait was right around one hour for those in line. Saturday, on the other hand, saw registration no lines more than a dozen people deep at most, and waits of mere minutes.

Events and panels went off without much of a hitch from what I heard. Signage was a problem, in part because of how widely separated various functions were from one another. But the sign department kept producing sign after sign to help guide attendees.

The number of people in cosplay shot up from Friday to Saturday, and I was steadily taking photos from when registration opened at 9 a.m. until I left at 6 p.m. to flee the storm that had just begun. That said, if the number of photo galleries I will have from Saturday is an indication of overall attendance, then it was clearly down from 2018. Last year I took enough photos for three galleries, and this year I will have only two.

This year we have started a new way to present cosplay photo galleries. We have a Smugmug account and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to save money on hosting storage, and give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.

Cosplayers in this first Saturday gallery include sarahnadecosplay, sewpoke_cosplaystargammacopepperrminpattiMomochi CosplaysRedfield designPetry CosplaysfaephoenixlostsanitycosplaysColonial ArmoryWorld’s End DesignvulpirecosplayAdventures of CleverJillian Cipher Cosplaygodsinthecogs, Not Professional Cosplay, and many more.
