Assassin’s Creed Unity: All For One And One For All
Nothing is true, everything is permitted. It’s that time of the year again where we can take to the rooftops, use our Eagle Vision, traverse the rooftops, and air assassinate Templars.
Assassin’s Creed Unity is on its way to consoles this Fall, with a lot of changes coming our way from previous games. The new assassin of the game is Arno Dorian, a Frenchman who was born in Versailles. Arno’s quest for redemption brings him into the Assassin’s organization, where he slowly rises through the ranks. Arno’s story will be set in Paris during the rise of the French Revolution, while the modern day setting will focus on the Assassins contacting the player, and requesting their help to explore Arno in the past, as well as helping in the present.
During the gameplay demo the first thing that we notice is that it looks different. It seems the graphics of the game took a huge leap, and shows the power of the new generation of consoles. The way Arno moves looked more fluid than previous assassin’s. The fighting engine looked refined as well. Taking the already good system, the developers added fencing, a French style of swordplay, in the assassin’s arsenal.
In the first gameplay trailer, what we thought was AI-controlled Assassin’s fighting alongside you actually turned out to be player controlled characters, introducing cooperative play to the series. One thing me and my friends always wanted in an Assassin’s Creed game was co-op play. We always wanted to be able to take on the story mode of Assassin’s Creed, and the open world aspects of the game together doing whatever we want, whenever we wanted. I was so happy to see that this is finally doable.
For the first time in the series, the story mode of Assassin’s Creed will be four-player co-op. This made me really happy, due to the game always feeling like it was made to be a co-op playable game in some aspects. Sure multiplayer was implemented after AC Brotherhood, but we never had co-op before. I am looking forward to seeing what else this game will show us, and I hope you too will take the fight to the Templars on Oct. 28, for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows
