C.A.P.E Ticket Pricing And The Coronavirus

We here at Nerd Caliber believe that the current restrictions on large events and recommendations for social distancing in many states are smart and reasonable. We also are as confident as we can be that these restrictions will be lifted well before the Cosplay And Photography Expo (CAPE) happens in Mansfield, MA on July 18-19.

Many conventions that were to be held in Spring in the Northeast have been cancelled. There is likely to be a great deal of pent up demand for cosplayers to go to cons and show their hard work and talent, and interact with photographers. We believe CAPE can help meet that demand. If you are unfamiliar with our event, we’ll give you a short rundown of what we do. If you know all about CAPE, skip down to the bottom where we talk about pricing changes.

The Cosplay And Photography Expo is an event all about fun and education. We run panels for two days featuring experts on how to do anything or make anything in cosplay, or how to photograph or take video of cosplay.

We have panelists that have decades of experience in cosplayer or photography (or both for some panelists) and they are very keen to share their massive accumulated knowledge.

In addition to panels, we have a dealer’s room focused on just things useful to a cosplay or photographer, as well as featuring artists or crafters. We love pocky vendors and comics resellers at other cons, but we want to keep our vendor room focused.

We also have a studio space with three full studio setups for anyone to use for 15 minutes or so. At no cost. You simply sign out one of the radio triggers for the lights, and play around to your heart’s content.

Add to that a dance party after hours on Saturday and we think we put on one of the most fun and educational events around.

In light of the effects of the response to covid-19 on local conventions, we’ve decided that we will suspend the price jump that was planned for March 22, in which the cost for a weekend ticket was to jump to $45. The costs for each ticket type will stay at current price levels — $40 for the weekend, etc., — right up to the event.
