Cape Cod Photoshoot Week Cosplay Gallery From Previous Years

This would have been the day I was to drive down to Cape Cod, to get ready for the fourth annual Cape Cod Photoshoot Week that was to run through this Sunday, May 17. But the coronavirus put and end to that run — at least the run of the event happening in May.

Since the shelter-in-place recommendations in Massachusetts, along with the ban on gatherings of more than 10 people and the designation of hotels and lodging as non-essential, won’t end before May 18th, we decided to move the event from the beginning of the season at the wonderful Southfleet Motor Inn in South Wellfleet, to the end of the season, Oct. 22-25, 2020.

The goal of the event is and has been to gather together cosplayers and photographers to one of the most beautiful locations in the Northeast to take advantage of Cape Cod when it isn’t as crowded as it usually is during the summer season. It is a happy coincidence that the Southfleet’s co-manager is a cosplayer and my cousin, Kota, so we get a really good rate on rooms for anyone who wants to stay over a night or two and go wild on many shoots.

No joke, there are roughly five gorgeous beaches within a 5-minute drive of the Southfleet. In the gallery below you will see three of them (Indian Neck Beach on the Massachusetts Bay side, and Le Count Hollow Beach and Newcomb Hollow Beach on the Atlantic Side), and the number more than doubles if you are willing to drive 10 minutes.

Not all of the photos in this gallery were taken during a previous Photoshoot Week. Some of them were taken at the Cape Cod Inn during the now defunct Nauticon — but taken during the same mid-May time period, which was when Nauticon was usually held. I include them to show what kind of scenery can be had if you are willing to drive 20 minutes from the Southfleet to Provincetown at the very end of Cape Cod. The photos of the Battlestar Galactica cosplayers, the Deadpool, and the Scarlet Witch were all taken at the Cape Cod Inn during Nauticon.

The photos of Deadshot and Harley Quinn (my cousin Kota) were taken at Whaler’s Wharf in P-Town and the photos of Kota as Cersei Lannister were taken in a small park next to the public library in Orleans. Both about 20 minutes away from the Southfleet.

So check out our rescheduled-to-October event if you are interested in taking advantage of these beautiful locations. Cosplayers in this gallery include aemiliaaaaaa, Chelsea Von Chastity Cosplay, ldcos618, Alazar Cosplay, chantelantoinette, Olivia Kitt Cosplay, Chocobobutt, erinscarletketchup, bionicrangercosplay, Chocolate Ninja Cosplay, and more.

By the way, Kota and her co-manager husband Alex are gaming nerds par excellence, and if you like Magic: The Gathering content, check out their brand new YouTube channel Card Floppers.

We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
