Casual Spider-Gwen Cosplay From Cape Cod Cosplay Photoshoot Week 2020

Right, right — I know it’s now Ghost Spider, not Spider-Gwen, but since this is a casual version of the Earth-65 Gwen Stacy, with leather pants and a hoodie, I figured it would be OK to use the old name. Plus, that is what Teresa, the cosplayer (who also cosplayed Bombshell Batwoman the previous day of our extended weekend on Cape Cod) called the cosplay character so I’m sticking with it.

This was the first shoot I did on Saturday of our recent Cape Cod Cosplay Photoshoot Week, and the setting is the stairs leading to the second floor of the back building of the Southfleet Motor Inn. Because most of the story in the Spider-Gwen comics is set in New York City, this was as close as we could get to an urban environment without driving to Hyannis — and even then it would be a stretch to call anything in that town “urban.”

About halfway through the shoot I realized the perfect prop would be a set of drum sticks. Luckily the co-manager of the Southfleet, Alex, is a musician and while his weapon of choice is the guitar, like all good rock musicians he had a pair of sticks lying around. Gwen, as many of you know, plays drums in the band The Mary Janes, founded by Earth-65’s version of Mary Jane Watson, lead singer and guitarist.

We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
