Chocolate Covered Cosplay: Breaking Racial Barriers

Check out these great set of videos from Kari Lane with members of Chocolate Covered Cosplay. There are not too many African American women voices in the cosplay community and Chocolate Covered Cosplay (C3) work hard to share their love for all things nerdy through their cosplay and skits. If you ever felt like an outsider in a community you love, no matter what race you are, you will appreciate these videos of how these anime fans not only found acceptance but how they share their love of anime, rpgs and cosplay with their audience.

In the videos below, we talk to C3 about their skit “I Wish My Life Was An RPG” (with opening act by Andre The Black Nerd) and the audience’s reaction to their performance. There is also a great video below about the audience’s insight into whether race is a factor in our nerd culture.

If you like the excerpts of C3’s performance, check out their show at Gam3rcon this weekend (close to the San Diego Comic Con)!
