ConnectiCon 2018 Cosplay Gallery, Saturday Part 3

I left ConnectiCon 2018 on Saturday at about 7:30 p.m. — just about two hours before security had to break up two brawls on the plaza level outside the Connecticut Convention Center, police cleared the area for alleged gunshots that turned out to be firecrackers, and an actual shooting (in which no one was hurt) just across the street from the convention hotel, the Hilton. So, good timing.

Let’s be clear; Hartford is a rough town, and timing ConnectiCon to happen at the same time as the big city-wide Riverfest event is going to bring nerds and non-nerds into forced proximity. Putting events in venues some distance away from the center and the Hilton means attendees have to go through a city that closes up all professional functions (including CVS and Dunkin Donuts) by early evening. Bad stuff happens every year. But the convention itself is still a relatively safe space that brings together lots of nerdy friends every year as well. Be cautious and aware of your surroundings and you will have safe fun.
