ConnectiCon 2023 Cosplay Gallery Part 2
As I mentioned in the previous gallery post, we weren’t at our usual space this year at ConnectiCon. Normally we would be at one of the community tables on the top floor, but this year they required applications to get one, not just showing up and sitting down. That meant that the cosplayer we recruited for the new position of table assistant, teh_chibs, had no job to do. So we had her and her partner (as well as a number of their friends and family that were around and eager to help) to roam the floors and give out cards, telling people where we were on the mezzanine and encouraging them to come get photos.
That worked like a charm. Not only did people show up saying they were asked to come up for photos, but Chibs and Co. even brought some people straight to us. Since Manny was set up right next to me doing the Question of the Day video interviews for YouTube, that made it doubly more efficient.
Speaking of YouTube, in this gallery is Chelle Belle Cosplay as Yor Forger. If you want to see what Manny and I pretend is work at conventions, check out their video blog that was just posted. We’re both in it, filmed doing our respective photo and video things.
In the middle of this gallery was a slowdown as most people sought out something for lunch. As usual during the summer weekends, the Riverwalk, just a short stroll from the Connecticut Convention Center, was loaded with food trucks and stalls. I had it on good authority that there was a poutine truck there, but Manny, who went to get us lunch, decided to stay in the convention center and brought back cheeseburgers and chips. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that they were cooked in the singular Connecticut manner — steamed instead of griddled or grilled. Even more surprising was that cooking using that method makes for a very tasty, juicy burger, even though it was clearly cooked well done.
