E3 2015 Wishlist: Nintendo

With the summer right around the corner, the biggest event for gaming all year is about to take place. The Electronic Entertainment Expo, or more commonly known as E3. This is the time of the year all the video game companies bring their A game, and show what exactly is in store for us. And at this point in the console race, Nintendo really has to bring it. With Nintendo already saying that the new Zelda game is not going to be present at E3, what are they going to show?

Well we do have a new Star Fox title that was teased at last year’s E3. And besides the HD re-release of Starfox 64, and Starfox Command for the 3Ds, we have not had a Starfox game in too long. Remember the Wii never had its own Starfox title. Strange seeing how their motion control would have fit the playstyle.

However besides that teaser and a mention during the presentation of the new Zelda title, we have no other information on it. By looking closely at the blurred out screen of Starfox from E3 last year it seems to be the original playstyle, but is that really going to be the case? Or will we have a fusion of gameplay, such as Starfox Assault, which mixed the traditional gameplay of Starfox 64 with third-person shooter action. I actually would be OK with that — I did love Starfox Assault, and I am looking forward to seeing more of the new Starfox title at E3.

Recently coming out in Japan last month was Xenoblade Chronicles X, a game I am personally looking forward to playing. I have been watching playthroughs of the game, and the game is very impressive. However at the moment we have little to no information that says this game is coming to the states. My hope is that we shall be getting this game sometime during the fall or holiday season. It looks very impressive and a title that will be a must own for the Wii U

yoshis-woolly-worldSad to say other than the new Starfox, Legend of Zelda, and X there isn’t much else in the form of huge new titles and projects known at the moment. There is the Mario Maker game (the featured image above) which allows people to create their own Mario levels and for the 30th anniversary of Mario I guess this will make a huge impact at E3. There is also Yoshi’s Woolly World, which I must say isn’t looking very impressive. Maybe we will hear of some new 3Ds titles too, but all is up in the air at the moment.

My prediction which is kind of an obvious move for Nintendo will be more DLC for Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. Two of the system’s heaviest hitters, these two titles have been getting a lot of attention. Due to their popularity, each title received a large variety of options, such as Mewtwo being added into Smash 4 as well as several new customizable options for Mii fighters, and Lucas coming back as a DLC character. I feel a lot of new DLC options will be announced for the game, especially with the fan poll for characters to appear in Smash. Mario Kart 8 also received huge DLC plans, such as new karts, courses, and modes. I am sure we shall see new DLC plans for Mario Kart 8 at the show.

While Nintendo has had a very low presence this year when it comes to new titles, they really have to go all out for E3 and show some new projects. Personally I would like to see a new Metroid title, that goes back to what made Metroid cool, and completely wipes my mind clean of Other M. Also Monster Hunter 4 was a very good game, maybe it is time for Monster Hunter to get a HD release for the Wii U. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was one of my favorite games when it came out. It was a hit with fans and grew more popularity here in the states. Also due to Capcom’s relationship with Nintendo, what would be a dream for many gamers is to receive a new Megaman title. The Blue Bomber made a shocking return in Smash 4 which was the most surprising reveal to me. And with all the love Megaman has been receiving on Nintendo’s console lately, maybe a new Megaman title from Nintendo would probably be the game charger for the system.

I do not want to believe the rumors that the Wii U is dead, and a new Nintendo console is on the horizon. This current console generation is still fairly new, so to make a new console at this point would be disheartening. Hopefully Nintendo can impress with some new project announcements to help the Wii U pick up some ground in this console race.
