Empire State Comic Con 2019 Friday Gallery
In its second year, Empire State Comic Con returned to the Albany Capital Center in Albany, NY. Both the convention and the facility itself are very young. The Albany Capital Center was finished in 2017, one year before the inaugural ESCC.
Being its second year, ESCC is still relatively small, particularly compared to the linchpin of the Altered Reality group of conventions, Rhode Island Comic Con. RICC has reached the limits of the ability of both the Rhode Island Convention Center and the attached Dunkin Donuts Center and the Omni Hotel to handle the crowds that show up. Given how strong the Albany area nerd crowd seems to be, and the presence of nearby colleges like University at Albany and Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute, it seems likely that ESCC will continue to grow.
The convention was open Friday, but only from mid-afternoon into the evening, so the crowds were pretty small. I still managed to get about 30 images of cosplayers.
