Fan Expo Boston 2021 Red Carpet Cosplay Gallery Friday
As I mentioned in a previous post, Nerd Caliber has a deal with Fan Expo to shoot the Red Carpet Cosplay walk-on events at some of the various conventions under the Fan Expo banner put on throughout each show. That is usually handled by Gregg of Wonderllama Photography, but this year on Friday, I went up to the top floor of the Boston Convention And Exhibition Center and took the photos of the weekend’s first Red Carpet event.
The Red Carpet galleries are different than our studio galleries. First, cosplayers were required to keep their masks on, as it was set up in an open section of the convention center. Second, there was no time for me to get any cosplay IDs, so any people I link down below will come from either knowing them, or seeing the cosplay in a search of Instagram or Facebook hashtags.
Also, it had been so long in between conventions that the lithium ion battery in my flash unit had developed a ghost charge, and when I thought it was at full power, it was actually less than 50 percent useable charge. So a flash that should flash more than 100 times at full power before the recharge time drops to more than a single second, starting slowing down drastically after about 50 photos. I made it through, but if that had happened during one of the crazy busy Saturday Red Carpet shoots, it would have been a disaster.
If you don’t want to wait for us to post the Red Carpet galleries here, you can already find them at the Fan Expo Boston website.
Cosplayers in this gallery include rebel_princess_cosplay, Ice Queen Cosplay Princess Parties, jendavislovespugs, semblance_x, nickamania, yueryder, and many more.
We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
To view the entire gallery, just click on the image below. If you are pictured in any of our galleries, feel free to download the images and use them non-commercially on social media, with appropriate credit.
