Fan Expo Boston 2021 Saturday Gallery Part 2
While it seemed as though attendance at Fan Expo Boston 2021 was a bit lower than previous years, the percentage of people in cosplay may have actually gone up. We at Nerd Caliber have a deal with Fan Expo to shoot the Red Carpet Cosplay walk-on events the various conventions under the Fan Expo banner put on throughout each show.
I photographed the one Red Carpet event Friday, at 7 p.m., and even for a half-day show I took pictures of more than 60 individual or group cosplays. That is typical of a Saturday on previous years. Gregg of Wonderllama Photography shot all other Red Carpet events Saturday and Sunday, and the Fan Expo staff had to cap the line at 150 each time. That is way more than any previous Fan Expo convention, including MegaCon Orlando which was held just a few weeks ago.
The point being, there seems to be a ton of pent-up demand to go to cons while wearing cosplay. That might explain why there was so much anime cosplay at a convention that used to be called Boston Comic Con.
