Fan Expo Boston 2024 Friday Gallery Part 2
When I got to my location in the Hynes Convention Center Friday morning to set up, I noticed I was at the east end of the row of cosplay guests and on the other side was Copper Coast Confections‘ second floor booth. So, all weekend I had to resist the urge to grab some delicious fudge, truffles, toffee and more. By my use of the word “delicious” you can probably tell I failed my resistance roll. Actually, I only bought some fudge at the end of the day Sunday — all other treats were given to me by the team at the CCC booth for being a good neighbor. Or because they saw I never got a chance to get away to get anything else to eat. To be clear, this wasn’t really any special treatment — their whole marketing pitch was “Free chocolates!” and they were giving away samples to anyone who wanted some. Still, it was greatly appreciated and very tasty.
Getting back to the positives and negatives of Fan Expo Boston 2024, one negative about the relocation from the BCEC to the Hynes was parking. One of the last large surface parking lots in all of Boston is the parking area behind the BCEC. That makes it some of the least expensive parking in the city. While there are plenty of parking garage spaces around the Hynes, affordable is not a term that would ever apply to them. A positive: There are way more food and drink options within steps of the Hynes than at the BCEC. While the Seaport options have expanded quite a lot in the past few years, it still can’t hold a candle to that Hynes/Prudential Center/Berklee School of Music area.
Since the convention hours on Friday were 2 pm to 9 pm, I didn’t get home until 10:30. Thank God for those free chocolates, because I was too tired to make anything for a late dinner, and just barely remembered to put all my rechargeable batteries in their chargers before passing out.
