Fan Expo Boston 2024 Saturday Gallery Part 3

Once I got back from shooting the Saturday Red Carpet event at Fan Expo Boston 2024 the cosplayers continued to show up at a consistent but not crazy rate, so I stayed busy but not too busy. The day also continued to bring by cosplay and convention friends I haven’t seen in many years, including kawaiixkisses and the Maine cosplayers that founded the Maine Cosplay Extravaganza, oldport_batman and batgirl.heathen. And while I have seen him within the last year, Castro of GiveWave Studios came by with his whole family in cosplay, including their new baby, cosplaying as the most adorable Jubilee.

One of things I like most about cosplay at conventions is seeing really obscure characters that you wouldn’t normally see someone cosplaying. This gallery and the next one have examples of that, and this one I almost didn’t see. As I mentioned, next to me on the east side of my space was the fudge and chocolate booth Copper Coast Confections. Since they were offering free samples, they had people at their booth almost continuously. I would often check out their crowd to see if there were any cosplayers I wanted to ask for photos once they were done. Late afternoon Saturday, after taking photos of a Rei cosplayer from Neon Genesis Evangelion, I turned to look at the CCC booth. There was a group of people in front, and it didn’t seem like anyone was in cosplay. Then I saw the helmet one of them was holding and noticed the red puffy winter vest. It took all I had to not shout, but once there was a break point in the group’s purchases, I asked the guy with the helmet, “Are you cosplaying as MF Doom?”

“I am,” he confirmed, and my obvious excitement at that was apparently so over the top that everyone at the CCC booth started laughing out loud. Here’s a link to a YouTube mix of MF Doom tracks, so you can check out someone who artists from nerdcore to mainstream considered truly creative and influential. He died much too young on Oct. 31, 2020.

Among the cosplayers in this third of four Saturday galleries are aceofsnakes, lemon_squeetzy, camistryinghisbest, Nerdcred Cosplay, reneexcosplay, hannahowlk, realmatchesmalone, blackheartedmando, queeng33ky, etherealamberr, jupiteramor24, Allayed Cosplay, kawaiixkisses, GiveWave Studios, addystea, thousandhunny, chinnstantnoodles, hauntingbelle, festive_serpent, beanzbuilds, alexa_lorello, jobsjoyfulmoments, atticus._.cos, ghoulish_cosplays, alliumfoxxes_, touganloo, kalosiansmainecosplayextravaganza, sunbunnycosplay, generalbenkenobi, and many more.
