Fan Expo Boston Friday Cosplay Gallery Part 1
The first day of Fan Expo Boston 2023 was the busiest Friday we’ve ever had at that convention. Prior to the pandemic, we might get two galleries out of Friday, but this year I took enough photos for three 100+ sets, which I could have split into four easily.
Based solely on the number of photos I took in our double booth space in the Cosplay Guest row, and my impressions of the crowds I had to negotiate as I went for food or bathroom breaks, I would say this year’s event was the closest to pre-pandemic attendance levels of any con I’ve been to in the past three years. Cosplay guests in the row and other vendors I know described the convention as very successful and Saturday in particular as pretty crazy.
To be clear, while we may be technically post-pandemic from a CDC standpoint, we are certainly not post-Covid, and it was great seeing those cosplayers who wished to wear a mask do so and not get any grief about it. I put my mask on when standing in long lines but didn’t wear it in the booth space.
No Fan Expo Boston happens without a hitch, and this year was no exception, but those hiccups were pretty minimal compared to some years. Shout out to Associate Editor Gregg of Wonderllama Photography for being the go-to photographer for events and handling the confusion around some of them with grace.
Cosplayers in this first of three Friday galleries include sophiacormier, bioweapon_lakota72, graphicsignworks, Jessica Leigh, sideeyebrigade, visagely, lumilixz, crafts_cosplay, duske2dawne, lilathegr8, cosplay_cannoli, GiveWave Studios, dfox360, shewolf_cosplayer, lazerosa, kingwebhead, bos.cosplay, spideyybooty, Zombie Leader, and many more.
We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
