Fan Expo Boston Saturday Cosplay Gallery Part 4
Not surprisingly, things slowed down Saturday late afternoon and evening at Fan Expo Boston 2023. I had time to chat with friends, to delete from the camera some images that didn’t work, but I was still busy enough to capture these more than 100 photos.
The cosplay contest, dubbed the Masters of Cosplay Grand Prix: Bay State Qualifier, was held late afternoon Saturday, and while I never got a chance to get a photo (a rare occurrence at cons, thankfully) congratulations to Redfield design for her Best In Show win. The Luffy and Nami in the featured image above caught me just as I was about to break down my first light rig, just before 7 p.m. I was glad they did, since they fit into that category of people I mentioned in the last post — cosplayers who discovered us on the first day of a con and kept coming back each day after that. Of course, that meant when I really did break down my studio setup for the evening, the BCEC security guard walking the floor and yelling that the show floor was closed seemed to get extra loud as she walked by me. Or maybe that was just my imagination.
As has been my wont in the last half-dozen years or so, I skipped the after party. I heard it was fun, if a bit sweaty due to the deficit of AC in the venue. After getting very little sleep the night before, even if I was still an after-party kind of guy, I would have skipped it for a comfy bed.
