Final Fantasy VII Cosplay Over The Years in Anticipation of The Remake
The first playable demo for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake was released on March 2 to the many eager fans, quite a large number of whom are now self-isolating because of the covid-19 global pandemic.
The trailer that was released in late February shows a gorgeous game with very modern, highly detailed graphics. But the gameplay is more like a modern action-fighter game that the turn-based traditional RPG that is typical of the Final Fantasy franchise. That change has both made some fans excited and turned off others.
While we here at Nerd Caliber are dealing with the consequences of many spring conventions being postponed or outright cancelled (*sob* Anime Boston) you will see a greater variety of content in this website, with more articles, reviews and opinion pieces. But we know you look to us for cosplay coverage, and to that end, we will start running some retrospective galleries from conventions over the past few years.
Below is the link to the first of these, a gallery of cosplay from Final Fantasy VII. And a caveat from me — I’ve never played any of the games, nor have I played Kingdom Hearts games, so if I have a FF7 character that only appears in that version in a different game, please don’t @ me. The character is from FF7 initially, so I say it is valid.
Some of these photos go back nine years. Cosplayers in this gallery include Charlotte Grace Psychic-GhostHunter, tinysithassassin, materiajunkee, Sabi-Cat Cosplay, PaperGauntlet, Crystal Tifa Cosplay, Harrison of More Travel Please, ATK PWR, Everyone’s Hero Cosplay, Stephanie Stone Cosplay, awesomejaymee, Chocobobutt, Byron D. Zero, Petry Cosplays, zimmermanjoe21, Ryosuke91k Cosplay, honeychan.cos, and many more.
We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
