First Impressions: Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters

Recently I took the opportunity to watch an episode of the new cartoon series Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters that is premiering this Saturday on the Hub TV Network. It’s hard to judge an entire series based on one episode, and even harder not to share any cool details without spoiling too much. So I will say this: Kaijudo is what happens when you take everything cool about Pokemon and place it in the Jackie Chan Adventures universe. And since I love the character development, stories and, most importantly, the comedy of Jackie Chan Adventures, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode.

The series is about a character named Ray who has a gift to summon monsters from another dimension and befriend them – unlike any Duel Master has done before. Not only must Ray battle against evil Duel Masters that use these monsters for evil but also debate against his duel trainers who are unbending to the years of tradition. The mythology of how the monsters left our world tens of thousands of years ago was well constructed. Fans of Magic: The Gathering will see familiar elements.

Below is the schedule to Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters television show and game releases. The cartoon series is worth checking out.
