FirstPerson Shooter’s Favorite Mashup Cosplays of 2018!

There are not many sub-genres of cosplay that I like so much as mashups. When I see someone taking a nerd character and combining it with a completely different character or concept I practically jump with joy. It’s like a joke that starts as a riddle — once I figure it out I have to laugh. It is a visual pun as funny as any verbal or written pun.

I took fewer mashup photos in 2018 than usual. That may be that there were fewer mashups to photograph, but it is definitely because I didn’t go to Dragon Con this year. That convention is ground zero for wildly inventive mashup cosplay. This year may also be the first year I’ve photographed two different versions of the same mashup concept, in this case Wonder Bread Woman. One of those was done by the wonderful Miss Molly the Cosplayer.
