Free Comic Book Day 2023 At Double Midnight Comics Part 2
One of the best things about the new location for Double Midnight Comics in Manchester, NH, is that The Factory on Willow has a dedicated space just for food trucks. For Free Comic Book Day, Double Midnight and the Factory on Willow had The Sleazy Vegan and 603 Smok’n Que as the two options. While the menu of The Sleazy Vegan looked amazing, I couldn’t turn down a chance at a brisket sandwich. It was very tasty.
In the last article I heaped well-deserved praise on the new store and the facility as a whole. So now I have a couple of notes, as they say in the film biz. And these aren’t any kind of a gotcha for the folks at DMC — I mentioned them to the team during the day. First was the scarcity of trash bins in the Event Space. There was one, near the entrance from the outside, but I missed it. As did a bunch of other vendors, a few of whom asked me if there was one. A second one down at the end near the doorways into the basement hallway would be helpful next time.
Second was the pretty dim overall lighting. I was fine, since there was a window in the outside wall right behind me, but the overhead lights were dim enough that I couldn’t see much of what vendors just 30 feet or so down the room had on display. The vendors and artists would definitely benefit from brighter lights next time.
Overall, I think the Event Space is a great location for Double Midnight’s Free Comic Book Day activities. I didn’t even mention the many easily accessible, single occupancy (therefore gender neutral) bathrooms on the same floor as the Event Space.
