Game Bites: Gamescom Is This Week And Original Quake Goes 4K

It’s been a little wait but we got some news for you this week. The world of video gaming has been a bit quiet recently but with certain events coming up that’s about to change.

This week starting on Wednesday is Gamescom. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a big game conference much like E3 that happens in Germany each year. This year much like E3 it will be streamed online. The streaming technically starts on Tuesday, Aug. 24, with a stream from Xbox, but the official start is on Wednesday starting at 10:30 a.m. PT and ending on Friday at 2:30 p.m. PT.

Last week we had a Pokémon Presents event that featured a few updates of current titles as well as more information of newer unreleased titles. The two biggest games they showed were the remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, respectively called Shining Pearl and Brilliant Diamond. The iconic games will be done in a chibi art style and the gameplay seems to have been updated since the last showing of it. The other game they focused on was Pokémon Legends: Arceus. An open world Pokémon game, Legends: Arceus is the first entry of that kind into the Pokémon series. The new trailer showed off the new fighting system as well as more of the areas, new pokémon, and a closer look at the main town hub.

One of the biggest pieces of game news this week was the announcement of a remaster of Quake, which is a 4k version of the beloved shooter. The game is out on all consoles as well as Steam as a way to celebrate the game’s 25th anniversary. The remastered version has the games classic and iconic soundtrack back as well as a new expansion entitled “Dimension of the Machine.”
