Game Bytes: Ubisoft Ponders Purchasers, PlayStation Plus Tiers Launch Dates Revealed

It’s been a cold Spring for some of us and the video game news has been rather cold as well. Ubisoft had rumors of potentially selling, while Sony and Nintendo announced some upcoming features and games.

Ubisoft’s share price climbed on Friday due to speculation of the company selling. There have not been any formal bids made yet according to CEO Yves Guillemot but some private equity firms have reportedly been interested in purchasing the company.

Sony announced the launch date for its new PlayStation Plus tiers in the Americas on June 13th. Sony will first launch the new service tiers in markets in Asia (with the exception of Japan) on May 23rd, followed by a Japan launch on June 1st, an Americas launch on June 13th, and a Europe launch on June 22nd. In a previous Game Bytes article we broke down what each new tier was going to be bringing.

Nintendo announced that Splatoon 3 will hit the Nintendo Switch on Sept. 9th. With the recent delay of the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to 2023, Splatoon 3 will likely be one of Nintendo’s biggest holiday releases. Nintendo also announced that Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which had previously been planned for a September release, would now be coming on July 29th.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 moves its release date from September forward to late July.

This week as we head into May studios will be releasing a few video games. On the 26th Zombie Army 4: Dead War (Switch) will be released. On the 27th, The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC), and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt (PlayStation 5, PC) will be released.
