Gijinka Evee Schoolgirl Cosplay From Cape Cod Cosplay Photoshoot Weekend 2023

I had fun at this year’s Photoshoot Weekend on Cape Cod that we held a couple weekends ago. That said, I wasn’t very busy. We only had a small handful of attendees — a few cosplayers and one other photographer. Now, because everyone knew well in advance that the passing tropical storm Dennis was going to make weather pretty crappy (and it did) it was no surprise that people decided not to attend an event that’s major draw was the beautiful outdoor scenery of Cape Cod.

While there are options for places to shoot at the Southfleet Motor Inn, our home for the event, Saturday morning it was still mostly cloudy with the rain holding off, so risingpheonixcosplay and I (and her partner who acted as a very helpful human light stand) decided to go to a nearby playground as an appropriate location for her schoolgirl gijinka version of the Pokémon character Evee. And that rain did hold off — until about 20 minutes into the shoot. We finished up quickly and raced back to the Southfleet.

The weather just got worse over the rest of the weekend, which was a shame. One of the other cosplays risingpheonixcosplay brought was a gijinka Leafeon, and she wanted to shoot that in the nearby White Cedar Swamp, where I shot the Star Wars characters during our last event, in 2020. Since the walk to the swamp is about 20 minutes long, and the rain was still light, she and the other photographer, Kevin Brophy, decided to shoot under the big pines just outside the back door of the lobby.

I’ll have one more gallery from the event coming up, but that will be all. The last time we did the event, in 2020, we had the busiest Saturday we’ve ever had. After the pandemic, it seems like many people forgot about it. Hopefully we can correct that for next year.
