Granite State Comic Con 2021 Saturday Cosplay Gallery Part 1

My second convention since the start of the pandemic shutdowns in March 2020 was Granite State Comic Con this past weekend, Sept. 18-19, held as always in Manchester, N.H. GraniteCon, as it is affectionately known, is one of my favorite conventions. It is small enough to be comfortable for almost anyone’s level of crowd concern, yet big enough to draw some famous celebrities. Perhaps best of all it is incredibly well run, starting at the top with Chris and Scott Proulx, also the co-owners of one of my favorite comic book stores, Double Midnight Comics.

The con’s unstated policy of “be nice, but do it right” starts with Chris and Scott, and works its way down to every volunteer, amusingly called “Red Shirts” for both their red t-shirts and the fact that they are the first-line cannon fodder defense for problems. When faced with a problem (and like any con, there have been some over the years) I don’t think I’ve ever even heard an exasperated sigh accompany the always said equivalent of “I’ll take care of that.”

Like my first return con two weekends ago, Fan Expo Boston, the percentage of cosplayers to non-cosplayers at GraniteCon this year was noticeably greater than in previous years. And again like FXB, that means that I took about 75 percent of the amount of photos I would have in a normal year, which is very good in a year in which there was dozens of conventions happening on the same weekend. And we’ll have galleries from one of those, ColossalCon East, posted soon.

Cosplayers in this first of three Saturday galleries include Mink the Satyr Cosplay, Qilin Creations, Kelly Green, Ashes2626 Dark Phoenix Cosplay, stormtrooperguy, lasombrs, christopherlavallee, Multitudes Cosplay, ladycat1170Lunsum, _the_infamous_emily, momochi_cosplays, sycosplay, Black Cat Comics Cosplay, Kurious Costumes, jfh_cosplay, sweetangelgurl33, and many more.

We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
