Guardians of The Galaxy: The First 17 Minutes
I have a plan. It’s not a full plan to talk about the sneak peek at Guardians of the Galaxy, but it’s a plan. Like, a 12 percent plan. Anyhee, I was lucky enough to attend a 17-minute preview of Guardians Monday night and I am SO GLAD I saw it!
Non-spoiler impression: The one scene they showed had everything you’ve been hoping for while watching the trailers. It has action, comedy and heart. And may I say, I walked out convinced to not only see it in 3-D but IMAX as well! Seriously, it was the first film since Avatar that I felt looked amazing in both formats.

I AM SPOILERS!!!!
I mean it! Spoilers of the Galaxy begin now:

We begin on a prison colony. You’ve seen some of the scenes in the trailers. You get the background you need for every main character PLUS keep an eye out to see Thanos when they talk about Gamora. I have to say every character shines but Rocket and Groot WILL steal the show. I was hesitant when Bradley Cooper was cast as the voice of Rocket Racoon but man, you can’t even recognize him! They basically are prisoners, captured by the Nova Corps. Star Lord gets pissed at one of them when they start playing his Walkman, they shock him and then a small musical montage begins with the song playing on the Walkman “Hooked on a Feeling.” They show Star Lord getting doused with orange liquid, and everyone else, then they change into prison uniforms and head into the main hall where all the criminals are. Troma fans keep an eye out for the very terrifying Lloyd Kaufman in that scene!
The prisoners already incarcerated try to tell the newcomers they are in charge. But Groot and Rocket fix that attitude immediately. Rocket begins to form a plan and asks everyone to grab one item each. Groot misunderstands and a hilarious yet bad bad-ass prison fight breaks out. Rocket is not only tough, but also very smart. Even those who are worried about Chris Pratt or Dave Bautista can calm down, they both are phenomenal in this preview as well.
After they wrap that scene they show a new trailer which brought chills to me! The soundtrack will be amazing and during this new ad “Cherry Bomb” by The Runaways is blasting! Seriously, I must stress that you should see this film. It looks like a (PG-13) family friendly film with tons of action inside and out! The space battle shots looked great as well. As I said right after watching this to a Marvel exec: “Fuck yeah!” (I never said I was family friendly, just the movie.)
On August 1st, if you don’t see Guardians of the Galaxy you’re stupid! Groot, out!
