Haku & River Spirit Cosplay at MegaCon 2019 by Wonderllama Photo
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Studio Ghibli movies. I have a black cat named Jiji; I have a large tattoo of the green bouncing heads and other characters from Yubaba’s room. So it’s no surprise that when two incredibly talented cosplayers came into the studio at this year’s MegaCon, in original haute couture versions of Haku and the River Spirit from Spirited Away, I went full fanboy.
Canadian cosplayers @jessicaharkonnen and @peekaboocosplay created truly unique interpretations of two iconic anime characters, built around a brilliant high-fashion concept. I love the fusion of Met Gala style and Hayao Miyazaki aesthetic. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
