Keystone Comic Con 2019 Cosplay Gallery Part 1

Keystone Comic Con returned to the Pennsylvania Convention Center for its second annual show on August 23-25 this year. The three-day event was created and organized by ReedPOP, a group well-known for running other popular conventions including New York Comic Con, C2E2, and the PAX shows, among others.

ReedPOP events are known for drawing in crowds with their celebrity lineups, and there were plenty of television, movie, and other entertainment stars in the house at Keystone Comic Con this year. Tom Holland, Bonnie Wright, Nichelle Nichols, Levar Burton, Scott Patterson, Gina Torres, and Michael Dorn were just a few of the celebrities in attendance and available for autographs and photo ops.

A wide variety of panels and programming ran throughout each day of the convention, covering numerous topics including television, movies, gaming, and cosplay. Many of the celebrities in attendance hosted panels during the convention, giving fans a chance to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars, and possibly even ask them a question during a Q&A segment.

The Wrestling Arena returned to Keystone this year, with pro wrestling matches throughout each day of the show hosted by Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore. This was certainly a unique and enjoyable experience that fans won’t find at many other similar conventions.

The Gaming Zone presented by Fios featured a variety of video games on both classic and modern consoles including the N64, NES, Genesis, Gamecube, Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. The Gaming Zone also featured a tabletop gaming area with a lending library featuring more than 100 different games.

For those attending the event with young ones, Keystone featured a “Family HQ” area with family-friendly activities and programming. A big shout out goes out to the Philadelphia Avengers, who on top of staffing their own (very popular) booth over the course of the weekend, helped fill in and entertain children in this area, which was short-staffed due to another group’s unexpected absence.

In its first year, attendance at Keystone was fairly light across all three days of the convention, which led to some people wondering if the convention would have a short life span. This year, while things started off slowly on Friday, attendance was definitely up from last year on the latter two days of the event, likely sparked by the more robust celebrity lineup promoted this year. It looks like Keystone may very well be here to stay.

Keystone Comic Con will return to the City of Brotherly Love on August 28-30, 2020.
