Mortal Kombat Cosplay Retrospective Gallery

Last week the Internet was all abuzz when the trailer for the upcoming movie Mortal Kombat was released. Based on the popular game franchise, the movie is set to be released April 16, in theaters and on HBO Max, since it is a Warner Bros. production. Aside from the expected complaints about costume designs not matching somebody’s favorite character design from their favorite version of the game, which is now up to Mortal Kombat 11, the reaction to the trailer has been overwhelmingly positive.

Part of that positive reaction undoubtedly comes from the movie’s good job of recreating the violent tone of the games — to the extent that it can. A true recreation of the fatalities in the games would likely result in an X rating, as the violence would be so extreme. Another reason is probably the overall production quality of the movie. This version doesn’t look like some Grade B action flick, like the original adaptation, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, released in 1997.
