Nerd Caliber And C.A.P.E. Team Up With Anime Boston!

Happy New Year, folks! And a new year brings cool new opportunities, including our partnership with Anime Boston 2020.

As part of a deal for me to run the Photography Department at the convention coming up on April 10-12, the photography studio suite will be co-branded with Nerd Caliber and the Cosplay And Photography Expo, itself coming up on July 18-19.

So what does this mean for you?

First, I am recruiting for photographers, studio assistants and photo editors. Because we will be standardizing on photo gear that the convention will own or lease, you don’t need to have a ton of studio or event experience to volunteer (although very experienced photographers are also very welcome), but we do need to see a selection of your photographs to make sure you will be a proper fit. That can be a Flickr or SmugMug gallery or even a Facebook gallery. Reach out to me for instructions on how to apply as a volunteer photo department staffer.

Second, while we will have our usual table in convention row to promote C.A.P.E., we won’t be taking cosplay photographs there. All the photos taken in the Free Cosplay Photo space in the studio suite will appear on Nerd Caliber first, just like any previous Anime Boston. They will then appear on the Anime Boston website, just like any previous Anime Boston event. So, if you stop at the table looking to get your picture taken, just walk around the escalators rotunda and down the windowed hallway to the studio suite. After asking about C.A.P.E. at the table, of course.

I was asked to step in to the Photo Manager role because of my reputation from running our own event, C.A.P.E., and running costume contest photo studios for cons like GraniteCon and Fan Expo Boston. So if you are at all considering volunteering for the photo staff, know that my goals for Anime Boston 2020 are the same as for C.A.P.E. and any cons Nerd Caliber works — work hard but have time for fun and make the experience one that people want to do again.

I hope to see many of you there, either working for me as a volunteer or standing in front of my camera as a cosplayer or simply as an attendee stopping by to say hello.
