Nintendo Pulls a Switch With New Name For The NX

After less than stellar sales of the WiiU, Nintendo announced a new console was on the horizon a few years ago. The Nintendo NX as it was dubbed was rumored to be the next-gen console for Nintendo.

With the success of both Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, Nintendo really had to pull something out of their creative department on how this system can stack up and possibly beat their competitors. And in my opinion they did because the Nintendo Switch looks amazing.

It was surprising to say the least. A home console that can be taken on the go is pretty revolutionary. As you can see in the promotional video below, you can be playing at home, then when you are going to head out you can switch your controller and the core game device into a tablet-sized handheld to continue your gaming experience on the go. This feature was sort of available for the WiiU but further enhanced in the Switch, as it showed the potential to be taken outside your apartment, in the car, at a park, and even on airplanes.

You’re even able to use the Switch controllers in a way that is similar way to the Wiimotes, or use the two for split screen action. It is actually pretty amazing.

While there isn’t much info yet on this new system, I am already eagerly waiting to hear more about it — hopefully soon. The Nintendo site for Switch is nothing but the promotional video. We do know, from a release on Nvidia’s site, that the Switch is powered by a custom-designed Tegra GPU.  In addition, there were already announcements that it is receiving a lot of third party support which Nintendo has lacked compared to Microsoft and Sony. Game developers such as Bethesda, Capcom, SEGA, Square Enix, Epic Games, and more seem to be on board.

Stay tuned for more information coming soon as we await March 2017 for the release of Nintendo Switch.
