NPH Leads Fortunate And Unfortunate Series of News Bits

If you read Gregg Snyder’s ‘Netflix and Nerds‘ 2016 preview of what the streaming network has in store, you know that it is doing a series adaptation of Lemony Snickett’s A Series of Unfortunate Events books. Now we have a report of who will play the lead of wicked Uncle Olaf, and it is none other than Neil Patrick Harris.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix landed Harris, but lost it’s showrunner, True Blood producer Mark Hurdis. There was no word about any change to the status of Barry Sonnenfeld, so we assume he is still on board as director.

Harris is probably best known as Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother, but nerds will also know him as psychic intelligence officer Carl Jenkins from Starship Troopers. As a choice for Olaf, Harris might be a better pick than Jim Carrey, who played him in the movie, when it comes to bringing more menace to the also comedic role.

No replacement for showrunner Hurdis has been named.
