PopCult Anime Con 2022 Saturday Gallery Part 1

This year PopCult Anime Con had a few firsts — its first time in the Westin Waltham hotel and our first time as staff cosplay studio photographers. After my experience running the Photo Dept. at Anime Boston this year, I decided to see if PopCult Anime Con would be interested in a similar deal, in which we shoot cosplayers in our portable studio setup and after the photos run on our site, they all go to PopCult for use on its website.

PopCult’s founder, Hemlock Inyx, agreed to our proposal, and come Saturday morning last weekend I was setting up in the space they provided — one corner of a large foyer space that is in front of one of the larger event rooms. It was a great location, right in front of the Registration room, and I took more photos on both Saturday and Sunday than I had at any previous PopCult when it was in Framingham.

But I still missed many cosplayers, in part because of the layout of the Westin Waltham. The function spaces are divided on either side of the lobby, separated by a decent length of bending hallway. With the Dealer’s Room a level below and Artist’s Alley above, it was easy for people who had picked up badges Friday evening to never need to come back to the side of the lobby I was on.

Cosplayers in this first of two Saturday galleries include silverfalconcosplay, apocalypse.unicorn, busyasabeecosplay, animesuckx, zero.kuu, chellebellecosplay, miserbilality, lounatic_cosplay, mistykristicosplay, lily0fthedawn, lostsanitycosplays, kazu_ortiz, ashleydarkphoenix, Legend of Larcy, and many more.

We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
