Rumor Monger: Is a Live Action ‘Young Justice’ Coming to CW?

Young Justice

One small line in a related article has the comic book blogosphere all abuzz. The site Bleeding Cool mentioned in an off-hand comment that it has heard that CW (home of the hit DC Comics series “Arrow” and soon “Flash”) is working on a live action TV series of the late, lamented cartoon series “Young Justice.”

According to Bleeding Cool, the series will at least feature Superboy and Miss Martian, in the roles of team leaders. Bleeding Cool is hedging its bets pretty heavily, leading into the rumor with “Bleeding Cool has been led to believe by a recently-reliable source…” But as creators who will remain unnamed have told me, Bleeding Cool is also pretty roundly hated in the comic book industry, since it is more often than not correct when it floats a rumor.

When the cartoon “Young Justice” was cancelled earlier this year, fans raised a hue and cry on the Internet, but to no avail. Even after it was clear that it wouldn’t be coming back, sites like IGN were singing its praises. Now, if there is any truth to the Bleeding Cool rumor, I have to wonder if the same quality can be achieved, or even something close to it. If the people involved with CW’s excellent series “Arrow” are involved, that would lend hope, but right now I can’t say if this is anything more than someone’s wish fulfillment fantasy. Stay tuned.
